Millbury Power Choice Program

Millbury Power Choice Update (Oct 2022)

No action is necessary for current participants to receive the new Millbury Power Choice rates.

Millbury residents currently participating in the Millbury Power Choice program will automatically receive new prices, which will be fixed for two years, from December 2022 through December 2024. Millbury Power Choice’s new electricity supplier will be Direct Energy.

How to Tell if You are Already Participating

Millbury electricity customers can confirm that they are enrolled in Millbury Power Choice by looking at the Supply Services Section of a recent electric bill. If it says “Supplier: NextEra Energy Srvcs MA-Millbury Agg”, then that account is enrolled. If it says something else such as Basic Service Fixed or other names, then that account is not enrolled. Starting with the electricity bill participants receive for December 2022, the Supplier name will change to Millbury CEA’s new supplier “Direct Energy – MillburyPowerChoice”.

Millbury Power Choice is an electricity supply program offered by the Town of Millbury to provide residents and businesses with new, Town-vetted options for electricity supply. National Grid continues to deliver your electricity, repair power outages, and maintain the electricity grid; they also send you one bill for the electricity you used.

On the Millbury Power Choice website (MillburyPowerChoice.com), residents, business owners, and other electricity customers can

  • Learn how the program works;
  • See different electricity products;
  • Easily enroll in any of the program options or leave (opt-out) the program;
  • Read the aggregation plan;
  • See the benefits of supporting renewable energy generation.

Notices about the program:

Please keep in mind that future savings cannot be guaranteed because National Grid Basic Service rates change every six months for residential and commercial customers and every three months for industrial customers.

Newly eligible customers will receive a Customer Notification Letter detailing the program and ways to leave the program (opt out); those who choose not to opt out will be automatically enrolled.

Customers who have chosen a third-party supplier will not receive an opt-out package and will not be automatically enrolled. They can voluntarily join the program, but they may be subject to penalties or early termination fees from the third-party supplier if they switch to the electricity program during the term of their contract with their chosen supplier.
