Municipal ChargePoint Charging Stations

Notice: Municipal EV Charging Stations to Charge Fee Beginning March 1st

Please be advised that the Town of Millbury will begin charging a fee for the use of its two ChargePoint Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. The charging stations are located in the parking lot of the Millbury Public Library and the lower parking lot of Municipal Office Building. Each station has two charging ports, two dedicated parking spaces for electric vehicle charging, and are available for public use.

The fee will be $0.22 per kWh, up to 4 hours. After 4 hours, an additional $1.00/hour will apply. Using ChargePoint’s cost estimator, a 2-hour charge will cost roughly $3, about $6 for a 4-hour charge, and $10 for 6-hour charge. These fees will help offset the cost of the electric supply and ongoing maintenance costs of the charging stations.

To use a ChargePoint charging station, you will need to create an account at www.chargepoint.com and either use your mobile phone or have a ChargePoint keycard sent to you.

Electric Vehicle charging stations are an important component to reducing energy consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. The Town installed the charging stations in 2017, along with purchasing four electric municipal vehicles, as part of an effort fulfill the goals of the 2011 Millbury Energy Reduction Plan and provide electric vehicle charging options to town residents and visitors.

Since their installation, the Town’s charging stations have eliminated an estimated 17,200kg of greenhouse gases.

ChargePoint maintains the largest network of charging stations in the country with over 100,000 and growing. You can use their Charging Map to find the closest available charging station, including the two stations maintained by the town.
