Construction on the Armory Village Revitalization Project – Phase II is winding down for the winter. Locally-based company J. H. Lynch, Inc. is as the contractor for the project. Lynch has completed significant portions of the Elm Street and Municipal Parking Lot sections of the project since work began in July.
In the Municipal Parking Lot, the parking area has been excavated and paved, parking lines striped, grading completed, and drainage partially installed. Work in 2023 will include completion of the drainage, construction of the rain garden and bioswales, installation of lighting and curbing, and landscaping.
In the Elm Street right-of-way drainage and conduit have been laid. Granite has been reset and concrete sidewalks have poured in certain locations. Work in 2023 will include completion of the sidewalks, installation of additional curbing, bumpouts, porous pavers, lighting, striping, and landscaping. Veteran’s memorials will be reconstructed at the Public Library and Town Hall.
Lynch has prepared the site for the winter with construction slated to restart in early April, weather permitting.
This project is being in funded through several grants including an MVP Action Grant, MassWorks Infrastructure Grant, Complete Streets Grant, Shared Streets and Spaces Grant, along with appropriations from Town Meeting and American Rescue Plan Act funds.
